I had the huge pleasure on Friday of returning to my native city of Sheffield to photograph Mel and Si’s gorgeous wedding. I have to admit that as Mel is a very close friend of my sister I had a few strange anxiety dreams in the run up to the wedding, including one in which I arrived at the church with no batteries in my camera and a lens so filthy I couldn’t see out of it. Thankfully I managed to avoid making both of those mistakes!
My nerves immediately vanished at Wigs and Warpaint where the girls were coiffured beautifully by a team of lovely laid back stylists. We had one slightly unnerving moment when my sister’s hair took on a distinct ‘Marie Antionette meets Shirley Temple’ look, but thankfully all came good in the end. I’m sure she won’t mind me sharing that picture with you.
The rest of the day was just an absolute pleasure for me to photograph. Having the reception at the stunning Chatsworth House certainly helped, as did the beautiful late afternoon sunshine we were blessed with. But none of it would have been much good without such a relaxed and happy bride and groom and their wonderfully welcoming family and friends. I’d love to do it all over again!
