I have a confession to make: sometimes at weddings I get really quite giddy and start squealing quietly to myself whilst skipping around with my camera. Often it’s because I see beautiful light or spot an amazing location for photographs. Mostly it’s when I witness wonderful connections between couples and I know that the way they look at and hold each other will make for gorgeous photographs. I make no apology for feeling so excited about my job that every now and then it bubbles out slightly.
I had several properly giddy moments at Stephanie and Gary’s wedding. They started when I arrived at their beautiful home filled with light and delicious wedding details (if you’re after any advice on styling your home I’d recommend having a chat with Stephanie!) and carried on throughout their ceremony which was conducted by the loveliest most laid-back priest I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with.
I had another surge when photographing the cute little ‘Up’ inspired details dotted around Shieldhill and also when I spotted the macaroon table (largely because I’d been given permission before the wedding to sample one!). I have to say that by the time the couple treated me to an evening shoot surrounded by South Lanarkshire countryside bathed in glorious golden summer light I was practically beside myself.
Stephanie and Gary: it’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you both and thank you for giving me the chance to get so giddy!
