Three words to describe Adam and Bernie’s wedding in December: love, love and love.
For me it was love at first meeting when I got together with Adam and Bernie at Starbuck’s in East Kilbride’s Town Centre. Perhaps not somewhere you’d expect a new romance to blossom but that was certainly the case as far as I was concerned. Cupid (also known as Gillian, Bernie’s bestfriend and mastermind behind Pin-Up Hair Glasgow) brought us together when she suggested to Bernie that I might be the photographer for her. Happily Bernie and Adam agreed! I was immediately struck by the couple’s warmth, kindness and intimacy between them. The excitement with which they described their wedding plans was positively infectious.
Wind forward to the morning of the wedding and the day dawned with blue skies and a sparkling frost. When I arrived to photograph Bernie and the girls getting ready I was met with Hollywood glamour, oodles of style and a fair amount of giddiness (which I have to admit I shared). There are some days as a wedding photographer when you pinch yourself and I knew this would be one of them.
Highlights for me included Bernie’s expression when she first saw the stretch Beetle wedding car, the sheer joy of their wedding ceremony in Cottiers, and spending time with the pair in Kelvingrove Museum for a post-wedding shoot with a difference. I also loved the couple’s Wizard of Oz inspired styling and their pine-cone topped winter wedding cake (and especially the fact that Bernie managed to snap the knife whilst cutting it!).
Huge thanks to Bernie and Adam for letting me share your gorgeous wedding day. I must also say a massive thank you to Jo Donaldson for superb second shooting. And finally, muchos gracias Cupid (Gillian) for masterful match-making!
