This is the story of the wedding of Joy and Nick. A couple who met whilst working at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. While Joy was busy selling tat to tourists (in her own words), Nick was diligently collecting horse poo. Proof if you ever needed it that you can find love when you least expect it!
In this tale of romance, the role of Cupid is played by Nick’s friend Jamie, who ‘subtly’ informed Joy on the last night of the Edinburgh festival that “he knew someone who liked her”. Ten years of the couple being pretty much inseparable follow and we arrive at their wedding day at the beautiful Achnagairn Estate near Inverness.
I make no secret of the fact that I am a huge fan of Christmas weddings. There’s just something extra exciting about celebrating love at such a special time of year. Joy and Nick however took the Christmas wedding experience to a whole new level.
Highlights for me included the couple dancing down the aisle, seriously epic confetti throwing, a sparkler lit evening entrance and bubbles descending on the dance floor. Ultimately what made this wedding so special for me though was the couple themselves. Joy and Nick are quite simply a delight to be around. The love they share for each other, their friends and family and life itself is infectious. And all thanks to some tourist tat and horse poo…
Big thanks to my partner in crime on the day, Laura Grieve, for wonderful second shooting.
